Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, at the governorship campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho, Lagos West Senatorial District, told voters in the state to reject inexperienced candidates for the 2023 governorship election in Lagos.

Several APC leaders, all candidates running for the State and National Assemblies elections, stormed the campaign venue with their supporters at Ikotun Bus Depot, along Idimu Road.

Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and members of the State Executive Council, were also in attendance.

Sanwo-Olu, commissioning a network of three roads and a jetty in Alimosho before moving to the campaign venue, told the people that his administration is on course in fulfilling and delivering its promises to the electorate in the senatorial district. He noted that Lagos West Senatorial District is a major beneficiary of the State’s Blue Rail Line infrastructure which first phase of 13 kilometres was completed last Wednesday. He said the second phase of the rail project, which will commence in January, would extend the infrastructure to Okokomaiko.

Sanwo-Olu also said that the election of APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would have positive implications for Lagos, saying that Alimosho, being the largest political constituency, has significant role to play towards  the victory of Tinubu in the presidential election.

Sanwo-Olu had stated: “I believe with the meaningful and purposeful development we have brought to communities in Alimosho, APC has no rival in this constituency. Alimosho is being called Tinubu’s country because of the strong support you constantly show our leader. Now, this has become my second home as well.

“Our charge to you is to go out and tell your friends, neighbours and families the gospel of development you have seen and felt. All the candidates of APC need to be voted in for continuation of our programmes, which have touched your lives positively. From the presidency, which is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, down to legislative offices and to the governorship election, which I’m representing you.”

Sanwo-Olu emphasised that no wrong information can belittle the development programmes of the APC government in Lagos. He urged residents of Alimosho to point to the  projects executed in the area whenever any of his opponents come with wrong information about his government, saying they should  reject his opponents, use their votes to suffocate the ambitions of opposition parties in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu had declared: “We have some inexperienced people who are calling themselves candidates of a certain opposition party, going to town to tell lies about us. Tell them non-starters have no chance in the governance of a city as large as Lagos. “You must use your vote to reject them and suffocate their ill-fated ambition.

“Those who have yet to collect their voter cards should do so. On the day of election, your objective is not to argue or fight with anyone. All we need to do is speak with our vote by choosing the APC. This is the only political party that has brought tremendous changes and development to Lagos. We must not allow the aliens to distract us and reverse our progress.”

The State APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, appealed to the people to allow the APC to continue the governance of the state, saying that Lagos under APC leadership has become a model for good governance and responsive Government.

The State Chairman told the residents of Alimosho to keep faith with the APC and vote for all the party’s candidates in the general elections.

Sanwo-Olu had earlier commissioned the newly-rehabilitated Isuti Road in Igando, Ishefun-Camp Davies Road and Ijon-Liasu Ojo-Ijo Road; he also commissioned a newly built ferry jetty in Ishefun riverine community to facilitate ferry services to boundary towns along the river channel, before moving to the campaign ground.
