Six Dangote staff arraign for stealing N2.2m
Six staff of Dangote group have been arraigned for allegedly stealing one trailer load of wheat valued at N2.2 million.
At the resumed trial on Friday at the Apapa Magistrates’ Court, John Bello, Olusa Bamidele, Ilumoka Johnson, Ogbe John and Ibikume Mayowa Adebayo who all pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing were docked.
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen had previously told the court that the defendants committed the offence on November 23, 2016 at Dangote Pasta and Noodle Plc, Ikorodu.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 409 and 285 (1) criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Magistrate, Temitope Babalola adjourned the case till May 14, 2018 for continuation of trial.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old clearing agent, identified as Kolawole Oseni, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding one Rasheed Adewale over the supply of lubricant oil worth N200, 000.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 26, 2017 at Apapa.
Obongha said, “The defendant collected the sum of N200, 000 from one Rasheed Adewale with the pretence that he was going to supply four drums of lubricant oil, a representation he knew to be false.”
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 314(a) and 280 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge brought against him.
Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till May 17, 2018 for mention.
