South Korea expresses fresh fear North Korea may embark on nuclear test Oct.16-Nov.7
South Korean on Wednesday expressed fresh fear that North Korea would resume nuclear test in the Korean peninsula towards the end of October into the first week of November. South Korea legislature, accordingly, raised alarm that North Korea has completed preparations for a nuclear test, saying that a possible period for carrying out the test is between October 16 and November 7.
The spy agency of the legislature had briefed the South Korean legislators revealing that preparations for a possible nuclear test by North Korea, which would be the first since 2017, had been completed at the Punggye-ri test tunnel.
It was gathered that after a briefing by the National Intelligence Service (NIS), two lawmakers had disclosed that the Punggye-ri test tunnel has been a place where the reclusive state conducted six underground tests from 2006 onward.
The legislators had said that the timing of the test could be determined by events like the party congress in China, North Korea’s main ally, and the midterm elections in the United States.
