Spotify has unveiled “The Sound of Hope,” a soundtrack celebrating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
Spotify has launched a special soundtrack titled “The Sound of Hope” to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, announced the initiative in Lagos on Monday.
Okumu emphasized that the soundtrack is part of the “Sounds of Nigeria” campaign, which honors the nation’s rich musical heritage as a unifying force and a source of pride for Nigerians.
“Nigerians have always had a deep love for music, and their resilient spirit shines through in the global success of Nigerian artists,” she stated.

From September 29 to October 3, music lovers can explore various curated music destinations on Spotify, including “Good Old Naija Days,” “Naija New School,” “Naija No Dey Carry Last,” and “Sounds of Nigeria.”
Each destination highlights different aspects of Nigerian music:
- Good Old Naija Days offers a nostalgic journey through classic hits from legendary artists.
- Naija No Dey Carry Last showcases uplifting songs that celebrate resilience.
- Naija New School features emerging talents and contemporary sounds in the industry.
- Sounds of Nigeria highlights the diverse musical traditions that shape the country’s identity.

To enhance the campaign, Spotify is collaborating with content creator and DJ Justin UG for a takeover of the Internet Famous Playlist, introducing new sounds and perspectives to a broader audience.
Additionally, Spotify will introduce two new playlists: “Naija Gospel Throwback,” celebrating classic gospel anthems, and “Nigerian Highlife,” showcasing the upbeat genre known for its infectious rhythms.
“Join us in celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day with Spotify’s ‘The Sounds of Nigeria,’” Okumu invited.
“Discover new music, connect with your favorite artists, and immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Nigerian music.”
