Sunday Mba sacked in Turkey
AFCON 2013 revelation, Sunday Mba has been released by Yeni Malatyaspor of Turkey, only four years after the 28-year-old attacker became a household name in Nigerian soccer.
National Daily gathered that Mba, then with Rangers International of Enugu, shot to stardom when he scored the winner in the AFCON 2013 final against Burkina Faso in Johannesburg, South Africa, but he soon fell into a transfer row that appeared to have derailed his progress.
The attacking midfielder, who first had a transfer dispute with Warri Wolves, shocked most people when he eventually opted to join French lower league club, CA Bastia in 2014.
They were eventually relegated to the third division and this freed him to move to Malatyaspor in July 2015, and featured in key matches for the Turkish club as they won promotion to the top flight last season.
Sadly, another blight has hit his career, as Mba and compatriot, Austin Amutu have been released by the Turkish club, where Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medal winning captain, Azubuike Okechukwu is the only Nigerian player to survive the purge.
