Tension in Plateau Assembly, thugs takeover legislative chamber
The conflicts rocking the Plateau State House of Assembly over the House leadership took a new twist in the week as thugs took over the legislative chamber of the House on Thursday, destroying property and documents.
Six members of the Plateau State House of Assembly had impeached the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Nuhu Ayuba Abok, forcing him out of office prematurely. Since the impeachment and appointment of a new speaker, the House has known no peace.
The Plateau State Governor, Solomon Lalong, has been accused of interfering with the autonomy of the legislature and instigating leadership crisis among the legislators.
