Tension in Zamfara as bandits sent letter of attack to College of Education
Zamfara State has been thrown into tension after a letter threatening attack by bandits was made public. The bandits were said to have sent a letter threatening to attack the Federal College of Education, Technical Gusau, Zamfara State.
The bandits, in the threat letter, vowed to invade the College, kidnap students and staff.
The letter was said to have been circulating on social media in the past few days ago.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Umar Bello, was said to have admitted knowledge of the threat letter. Dr. Bello had, however, assured that the school authority has taken stringent measures to avert any breach of law and order in the College.
The Provost disclosed that the school has notified the security agencies, adding that troops have been deployed to the College.
“Since the receipt of the alleged letter of threat by bandits the college has taken measures to protect students and staff of college of from any harm.
“The school authority has reached out to security agencies including military, police and civil defense, so, we are on top of the situation,” the Provost was cited to have said.
Dr. Bello added that the college has engaged the services of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp and local vigilante groups to strengthen the existing security architecture of the school before the threat letter was issued.
