Popular Nigerian music video director TG Omori has accused the Trace TV Awards of ignoring the video director category. Omori, who has directed videos for some of the biggest names in African music, including Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

“I’m very disappointed that the Trace TV Awards have once again ignored the video director category,” Omori tweeted. “Video directors are the ones who bring artists’ visions to life, and we deserve to be recognized for our work.”

Omori’s tweet was met with support from other video directors, who also expressed their disappointment with the Trace TV Awards. “It’s a shame that the Trace TV Awards don’t seem to value the work of video directors,” said one video director. “We put in a lot of hard work, and it’s frustrating to not be recognized.”

The Trace TV Awards are an annual awards ceremony that celebrate the best in African music and entertainment. The awards have been criticized in the past for not being inclusive enough, and this year’s decision to ignore the video director category has only added to those concerns.

In a statement, the Trace TV Awards said that they are “always looking for ways to improve the awards ceremony,” and that they “will take feedback into account as we plan for future editions.”

However, Omori and other video directors are not convinced. They say that the Trace TV Awards need to do more to recognize the work of video directors if they want to be considered a truly prestigious awards ceremony.

“The Trace TV Awards need to wake up and smell the coffee,” said Omori. “Video directors are an essential part of the music industry, and we deserve to be recognized.”
