Tinubu mourns passing of ex- FCT Minister, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni at 81
President Bola Tinubu has joined the government and people of Plateau State in mourning the death of Lieutenant-General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who passed away on Thursday at the age of 81.
In a statement released by the presidency, Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to Useni’s family, friends, military colleagues, and political associates. He also acknowledged Useni’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s military and political landscape.
The President highlighted Useni’s illustrious career in the Nigerian Army, where he served with courage and dedication. Rising through the ranks to become Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, Useni inspired generations of officers by prioritizing national interests over personal gain.
“Lieutenant-General Useni demonstrated remarkable courage and dedication throughout his military career, leaving a legacy of professionalism and selflessness. His exemplary service inspired many young officers to prioritize the collective good of the nation,” Tinubu stated.
Useni also served as the Governor of the old Bendel State and Minister of Transport, roles in which he contributed to national development and governance.
After retiring from the military, Useni ventured into politics, where he continued to serve Nigeria in various capacities.
