Tinubu to receive APC Certificate of Return, party flag for 2027 presidential race
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to formally receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) certificate of return and the party’s official flag as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election on Sunday in Abuja.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre following the nationwide collation of results from the APC presidential primary election.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed that the event would mark the formal conclusion of the ruling party’s presidential nomination process ahead of the next general election.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday receive the certificate and flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections,” Onanuga stated.
According to the statement shared via X, the event is expected to attract top figures within the ruling party, including APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Working Committee (NWC), lawmakers from the National Assembly, and other key stakeholders.

The ceremony is anticipated to serve as a major political gathering for the APC as the party begins preparations for the 2027 presidential election campaign.
Tinubu, who emerged as the APC presidential candidate after the party’s primary process, is expected to address party faithful and reaffirm his administration’s commitment to ongoing economic and governance reforms.
Political analysts believe the event will also provide an opportunity for the APC leadership to demonstrate unity within the ruling party ahead of what is expected to be another fiercely contested presidential election.
The presentation of the party flag and certificate of return traditionally signifies the formal endorsement of a candidate by the party after the completion of internal electoral processes.
Sunday’s event is also expected to witness strategic consultations among party leaders as the APC intensifies efforts to consolidate support across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
