WAKILI: OPC members charged with murder, arson remanded
Three members of the OPC who handed over to the police the Kajola Fulani clan now remand have been charged with murder and arson, and are now remanded at the same facility.
A chief magistrates’ court at Iyaganku in Ibadan gave the ruling on Wednesday.
The three suspects Awodele Adedigba, 45, Dauda Kazeem, 38, and Hassan Ramon, 33, were also charged with conspiracy.
The prosecution counsel Opeyemi Olagunju, told the court that the suspects on March 7, at about 8am at Kajola village, Ayete, allegedly caused the death of a 45-year-old woman.
On the said day, the three and other members of the OPC descended on the enclave of Isikilu Wakili, a Fulani herder who , along with his three sons, have been charged with murder and kidnapping around Kajola, Ayete, Ibarapa north, Oyo.
Chief Magistrate Olaide Hamzat who gave the ruling in the Wednesday hearing did not take the plea of the suspects, for want in jurisdiction.
He ordered the police to return the case file to the office of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter till April 21, for mention.
