Why Baba Ijesha sexual assault trial was postponed

The long vacation embarked upon by Court Judges across the have stalled the ongoing trial of popular Nollywood star, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha.
The trial, it was learnt was on Wednesday stalled at the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja.
As it stands, the Thursday date has also been affected.
According to a notice seen by National Daily, the judges are expected to be on vacation till the third week of September.
It would be recalled that the court, presided over by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, had at the last sitting, adjourned the matter to August 11 and 12 for trial to continue.
But as it stands, the case has now been moved to September 27, 2021.
Before now, the Lagos State Police Command had on April 22, 2021, arrested Baba Ijesha, for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the care of Princess.
The Nollywood actor was consequently dragged before the court on a six-count charge of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault, which according to the Lagos State government contravene sections 259, 135, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011, as well as 135, 263, and 262 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
