Kuje Area council chair inaugurates safe motherhood centre

The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Mr Abdullahi Sabo, has inaugurated an “Inclusive Safe Motherhood Strategy (ISMS) Centre’’, to improve healthcare services at the council’s rural communities.
Inaugurating the centre on Wednesday in Chukuku community, Sabo said his administration was committed to strengthening the health care system and implementation of a sustainable healthcare financing mechanism in the council.
He said that had undertaken pragmatic reforms and programmes to ensure the attainment of “Universal Health Coverage’’ for the residents.
“It is with immense pleasure that I stand here before the good people of Chukuku village and by extension Kuje Area Council in general to share with you all the vision of the government.
“We intend to provide quality, accessible and affordable healthcare to all, irrespective of financial status, academic qualification or background in the area.
“Right from the inception of my administration, it has been a top priority for our government to make sure that access to healthcare by Kuje people is no longer exclusive to the wealthy and privileged.
“Indeed, health is a fundamental right and all the good people of Kuje should have access to healthcare without having to worry about the financial burden.’’
He thanked the Executive Director, Survival Fistula Healthcare Foundation (SFHF) Mrs Peter Ogulayin for “an extensive succor both in times of facilities, conducive atmosphere and sacrifices’’.
“With all this provision in place, it is imperative that all stakeholders, which include traditional rulers and community leaders to collaborate and act as aggregators, to achieve the desired Universal Health Coverage in times of service provisions,” Sabo said.
Earlier, Ogulayin said the primary vision and mission of the foundation was to provide ease to pregnant women and quality healthcare delivery that was accessible to ensure to all.
Ogulayin noted that the Kuje council had demonstrated zeal and passion for the wellbeing of the women, particularly pregnant women, adding that it was necessary for stakeholders to ensure sustainable action and service delivery.
“We believe that with this commitment, hard work and diligence, Kuje Area Council will succeed in attaining Universal Health Coverage for all,’’ she said.
The National Daily reports that the centre was donated by the Survival Fistula Healthcare Foundation (SFHF) a Non-Governmental organization.
