Wizkid, Tems, Burna Boy, Asake score major nominations at 2026 BET Awards
Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Tems, Burna Boy and Asake have secured top nominations at the 2026 BET Awards.
The organisers unveiled the nominees on Tuesday ahead of the award ceremony scheduled for June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles.
Wizkid and Asake earned a joint nomination in the Best Group category following the success of their collaborative projects and chart performances.
Tems emerged as one of the most nominated African artistes this year, picking up three nominations in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award, and Viewer’s Choice categories. Her nominated works include “First” and “Raindance,” a collaboration with British rapper Dave.

Burna Boy also received a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for “WGFT,” his feature on Gunna’s track.
Nigeria continues to maintain a strong presence at the BET Awards, with previous winners including Davido, 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince and Ayra Starr, who won Best International Act in 2025.
Actors of Nigerian descent also secured recognition in acting categories, with Ayo Edebiri and Cynthia Erivo nominated for Best Actress, while Damson Idris received a Best Actor nod.
