Woman found chained in room for years over family business dispute in Abuja (Video)

A disturbing case has emerged from the Mpape area of Maitama Extension in Abuja, where a woman was allegedly discovered chained inside a locked room after reportedly being held in confinement for about four years.

The shocking discovery was made after residents were alerted to suspicious sounds coming from a building in the area, prompting a community intervention that led to the rescue of the victim.

According to eyewitness accounts, a man who was fetching water nearby first noticed unusual noises emanating from the premises. Concerned, he alerted other residents, who later traced the sound to a sealed room.

When they reportedly forced their way inside, they allegedly found the woman chained and in a severely deteriorated condition, raising immediate alarm within the community.

She was subsequently rescued and rushed for urgent medical attention. Eyewitnesses said she appeared weak and was unable to walk properly after years of alleged confinement.

Residents alleged that the woman’s ordeal stemmed from a dispute involving a cement business she reportedly started with her brother.

According to these claims, the disagreement centered on ownership and profit-sharing.

It was further alleged that the brother declared her mentally unstable following the dispute, after which she was allegedly isolated and kept in confinement.

Community sources suggested that the confinement may have been aimed at preventing her from laying claim to the business, though these allegations remain unverified.

Community Raises Alarm, Questions Missing Child Claim

The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation and accountability over the alleged abuse.

An eyewitness who shared details online wrote: “This happened in MPAPE ABUJA around my area… I have videos so they don’t sweep her case under the rug and justice should be served.”

The same source also alleged that the woman’s daughter disappeared during the period of her confinement, and further claimed that the child’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Some unverified claims circulating within the community suggest the child may have been involved in ritual-related circumstances, but authorities have not confirmed any such allegation.

Security and welfare authorities have not officially confirmed the full details of the incident, and investigations are said to be ongoing.

Meanwhile, the rescued woman is reportedly receiving medical treatment as officials and community leaders work to establish the facts surrounding her alleged years-long confinement and the circumstances that led to her rescue.
