1 Major health benefit of sleeping on your left side
While adequate sleep benefits both physical and mental health, it is not the duration of sleep that is significant. The position in which you sleep is critical for optimal health. Among other positions, sleeping on your left side has a big effect on your health.
You may be wondering how this is feasible given the symmetry of the human body. Internally, our body is asymmetrical due to the organ positioning. As a result, sleeping on one’s left side has greater advantages than sleeping on one’s right. I’d like to focus on just one of the primary health benefits in this post. This particular benefit is not obtainable when you sleep on your right.
Sleeping on your left side has the most expert and scientific support. Although our bodies appear to be essentially symmetrical, our internal organ location causes us to be asymmetrical. How we sleep has an effect on how our systems direct and process waste — which should be a component of our overall health goals.
You may keep track of your workouts, nutritious breakfasts, or how you approach each day with a new perspective. Why not pay the same amount of attention to your bowel movement?
For some, bowel movements occur automatically. However, those who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome with constipation, lazy bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, or other gastrointestinal problems may struggle to complete this task. Therefore, why not let gravity do the work?
While sleeping on your left side, gravity can assist in moving waste through the ascending colon, through the transverse colon, and lastly into the descending colon, encouraging a morning toilet visit.
