BREAKING NEWS: Africa’s nominee, Tokyo Sexwale, withdraws from FIFA presidential race
Hopes of an African emerging as the next helmsman of world football governing body was today dashed as South African born Tokyo Sexwale, nominated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), withdrew from the race for presidency of FIFA.
In his speech, Sexwale said: “My candidacy ends today, I end my participation, I leave you four candidates.”
FIFA is currently in the process of electing a successor to Sepp Blatter, who resigned the presidency, a role he had held since 1998, with an announcement due this afternoon.

South African businessman Sexwale withdraws from the the election before the first round of voting, leaving Prince Ali, Sheikh Salman, Jerome Champagne and Gianni Infantino on the ballot.
The four bigwigs, two from Asia and the other two from Europe are to slug it out in voting which commences today. (Skysports News)
