2019: Ekweremadu gets rival for Enugu West
The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, has declared his intention to contest the 2019 election with Deputy Senate President Ie Ekweremadu currently representing the Enugu West Sematorial district.
Okechukwu, an ardent supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari,will be contesting on the platform of the APC.
In a statement released Tuesday, Okechukwu asked party members in the district to support his ambition to “retire Mr Ekweremadu from politics”.
“I pledge to give the good people of Enugu West Senatorial District the following service – selfless, revamp Enugu coal, eastern corridor railway and cassava and rice settlement,” he said.
Ekweremadu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been in the Senate since 2003.
Okechukwu. who has been loyalist to Buhari since their ANPP days, was appointed DG of VON in May 2016.
