2023: Fayemi’s APC faction clash with own chairman supporting Tinubu
It’s still an allegation, but it may earn the APC chairman in Ado LGA of Ekiti suspension—or something worse—as investigation of his cozying up to an “unauthorized group.
Clement Afolabi was said to have taken up the appointment of heading Ekiti SAWGA, the South West Agenda for the APC national leader Bola Tinubu.
SWAGA is headed by Senator Dayo Adeyeye, and the group has been active in preparing the way for Tinubu presidential ambition in 2023.
The party, in a letter addressed to the ward chairman dated April 27, 2021, invited Afolabi to appear before a disciplinary committee over his alleged anti-party activities, including the accusation of blackmailing the APC and the state government.
The letter, signed by the local government caretaker secretary of APC, Temitope Oluwasola and titled, ‘Your Political Anti-Party Activities and the Need to Defend Yourself’, said Afolabi was being investigated among others, for his declaration as a coordinator, “of an unauthorised group in the local government.”
But Afolabi denied all the allegations, insisting he works for the progress of the APC.
Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi is also rumoured to be eyeing the presidency.
But neither Kayode nor Tinubu has declared their intentions yet.
