21 bandits arrested, five killed, hundreds of victims released
Since the implementation of the new security measures by Gov Bello Mohammed Matawalle, the state’s police command and other security agencies have intensified efforts in reducing the spate of banditry in the state.
CP Ayuba N. Elkanah said the efforts have assisted in no small measures towards denying the bandits access to food supply, fuel supply, Indian hemp and other hard drugs supply.
Similarly, payment of ransom to bandits by the relations of the kidnapped victims has now stopped due to the effective enforcement of the security measures where communication between the bandits and their informants became impossible.
Under this situation, kidnapped victims have now become liabilities for the bandits and are being released unconditionally following an extensive search and rescue operations.
He said the police through the ongoing operation also succeeded in the arrest of 21 notorious armed bandits at various locations of the state, five bandits were also neutralized during the operations.
Police equally repelled four different attacks with many bandits suffered heavy casualties. Many informants to the Bandits were arrested, investigated and prosecuted.
Similarly, over two hundred kidnapped victims were rescued at various locations, debriefed and reunited with their families.
Apart from the achievements of other security agencies in the state, many arrests were made and several recoveries mostly bandits collaborators by Zamfara state Police Command.
