22 Nigerian songs that have been banned from being aired on television and radio stations
There are songs you may have noticed stopped airing on television and radio stations. This is because the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation banned these songs. Some of them were hit songs and had already circulated before it was banned.
Some of these songs were banned by NBC because of several reasons ranging from vulgar words, violent scenes, nudity, drugs use, and promotion of fraud. The songs banned are not restricted to only Nigerian songs, few foreign songs were also included.
NBC requested that media houses should stop playing these songs or face the penalty if their order is disobeyed. In 2009, the following Nigerian songs were banned by NBC for displaying vulgarity and indecency.
Maga Don Pay – Kelly Handsome
New Baby – Flavours
Enter the place – 2face Idibia
