3 men arraigned for setting 11 houses ablaze, murder, attempted murder.
A Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan on Friday ordered that three men be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly setting 11 houses ablaze.
The police charged Isa Omotayo, 25; Isau Adebayo, 45 and Isah Usman, 30 with conspiracy, attempt to murder, murder and arson.
Magistrate I. O Osho, however did not take the plea of the three men for want in jurisdiction.
Osho directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until June 1, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Foluke Adedosu told the court that the three men committed the offence on April 23, 2021, at about 4. p.m, in Olamoyegun village, Egbeda, Ibadan.
She said the men and others at large, burnt the houses belonging to Mr Yinusa Adamu.
She said the three men also caused the death of a housewife, Mrs Fatimo Mutairu, 29.
Adedosu also alleged that the three suspects attempted to murder of a couple.
She said the offence contravened provisions under sections 324, 319, 320, 516 and 43 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
