3 Methods fraudsters amongst POS agents can use to steal your ATM card information
Point of Sales (POS) is a mobile device used in Supermarkets to pay for the goods you buy, but it has been turned into a business in Nigeria since 2013. Anybody can get the machine from a bank or online payment giving it out, and start using it to make daily Profits.
Even, fraudsters are now doing POS business in the name of stealing customers’ ATM card information. they will open a small shop, employ a salesgirl that will be helping them in stealing customers’ ATM card information and be paying her a huge salary.
In this article, I will be sharing with you three methods fraudsters amongst POS agents can use to steal your ATM card information.
1. By snapping your ATM card
Some POS shops are very close that you can’t see what the POS agent is doing with your ATM card, some of them snap customers’ ATM cards using android phones. They would have off the camera sound for you not to hear any sound. If you can’t see what the agent is doing with your ATM card and he’s taking too long to give you the POS machine to press your pin. Please collect your ATM card immediately.
2. The agent can make you forget your ATM card in her shop
A POS agent can make you forget your ATM card, normally when you withdraw money from a POS agent, the agent is supposed to give you your ATM card before giving you the money for you not to forget your ATM card in her shop. But some agents deliberately give you the money first for you to forget your ATM card. If you mistakenly forget your ATM card in her shop, the agent will have stolen your ATM information before going back to collect it.
3. Use Phones to withdraw for you
Don’t allow POS Agent to use a phone to withdraw money for you, if there is no network on his POS machine, collect your ATM card and leave. Some of them are using that to store customers’ ATM card information on their android phones.
