39-yr-old man arrested for brutally assaulting police officers
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, identified as Akinyemi Akintayo, for allegedly assaulting some of its officers in Ayobo area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Monday, January 8, said the suspect was arrested after weeks of being on the run.
It was gathered that Akinyemi attacked and brutally assaulted the police officers on Friday, December 8, 2023.
He then went into hidden after video of the attack went viral online.
In the 26 seconds long video, the suspect could be seen holding one the officers by his shirt and threatening to deal with him. He then proceeded to attack a second officer who was filming the incident.
The attack left at least one officer with a severe head injury.
