400-level student beats female lecturer to coma for not playing ball
A female lecturer of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Ilorin, is coming out of a bloody coma after a student beat her into a frazzle in her office on Thursday.
While Mrs Zakariyyah is home responding to treatment, the 400-level male student identified as Captain Walz is kicking his heels in police cage.
The student, simply identified as Captain Walz, reportedly attacked the lecturer in her office and assaulted her leading to severe injuries.
VC Prof Sulyman Age Abdulkareem said justice will be done.
The Director of Corporate Affairs of the institution, Kunle Akogun, confirmed a visit by the VC in company of the Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Oladiji, the Director, University Health Services, Dr Odunola and a few other staff to the victim and her family.
The VC described the incident as sad and unfortunate, assuring that justice will be done on the matter.
Captain Walz flunked his SIWES, but still wanted to swing it so he went to Mrs. Zakariyyah who insisted he failed.
An angry Walz then barged in to her office Thursday morning, nailing the table and smashing window panes as he slapped the woman.
She rushed out, but the male student followed suit, slapping her until she bowled over, crashing with a head injury that kept bleeding.
Walz reportedly attempted to strangulate her when she passed out.
It was the school security who came arrested, and handed Walz over to the police.
