Gunmen kill police officer, Okada rider, cart away AK-47 rifles
Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have killed a Police officer and a commercial motorcycle operator (Okada rider) in Warri area of Delta state.
Reports say the gunmen took away two AK-47 rifles from the police officer.
The incident which caused pandemonium and saw residents running helter skelter occured at about 9pm around Uti junction in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to a source, the Police officer was being conveyed on the motorcycle when the gunmen attacked them.
The source said that the officer was carrying two rifles, one suspected to be for his colleague who was not on duty and the second for him.
As at press time, the identities of the deceased persons are yet to be ascertained.
The Delta state Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe couldn’t confirm the information as he said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
