Court dismisses forgery case Against PDP Gov candidate in A’Ibom for lack of merit, awards N15m cost to Eno
The Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, in a judgement on Friday dismissed the suit against the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, alleging forgery. The court dismissed the suit for lack of merit.
One of the governorship aspirants for the PDP ticket, Akan Okon, had filed the suit against Eno, accusing him of falsification of his 1981 West African Senior School Certificate Examination result and 1983 General Certificate of Education, voter’s card and birth certificate.
Okon sought the disqualification of Eno by the court, requesting the court to also declare him winner of the primary as well as declaring him the PDP governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State.
The presiding Judge, Justice Agatha Okeke, in her judgment, dismissed the suit for want of merit.
The Judge had declared: “All the claims made by the plaintiff were based on assumptions and suppositions. The suit is dismissed for want of merit. I enter judgment in favour of the defendant and award a cost of N15 million against the plaintiff.”
