FIFA introduces championship rings for World Cup winners in historic first
The winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament’s history, FIFA has announced.
The rings will be presented alongside the iconic World Cup trophy and gold medals, marking the introduction of a long-standing American sporting tradition to football’s biggest tournament.

FIFA made the announcement in a statement on Thursday ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
According to the world football governing body, the commemorative rings are being introduced as part of the tournament’s legacy.
“In a momentous first for a FIFA competition, the tournament winners will also receive bespoke championship rings, bringing one of the most recognisable American sporting traditions to the global game,” FIFA said.
A total of 2,026 individually numbered rings will be produced to commemorate the 2026 World Cup.
Of those, 30 rings will be reserved for members of the victorious team, while the remaining 1,996 will be released as officially licensed collectibles for fans around the world.
FIFA said each ring will feature the FIFA World Cup trophy on one side, while the reverse side will be customised with the identity of the winning nation.
Every ring will also be individually numbered, custom-fitted and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
To mark the historic occasion, FIFA said the winning team’s captain and head coach will receive temporary championship rings during the trophy presentation after Sunday’s final.
The full set of 30 bespoke rings will later be customised to fit each recipient before being officially presented to the World Cup champions.
The initiative marks another first for the 2026 World Cup, adding a unique symbol of victory to football’s most coveted prize while blending a celebrated North American sporting tradition with the global game.
