Presidency 2023: Edwin Clark joins Obasanjo, Adebanjo, endorses Obi
Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, on Tuesday joined former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ayo Adebanjo, and others to endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour party (LP), Peter Obi for the 2023 general elections.
Clark at a news briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, noted that Obi has the traits he believes are critical to leading Nigeria. The elder statesman emphasised that Obi has honesty, trust and transparency, noting that the LP presidential candidate demonstrated all these when he was governor of Anambra State.
Former President Obasanjo had on Sunday endorsed Obi for the 2023 president; the Afenifere leader, elder statesman Ayo Adebanjo, had earlier endorsed Obi for the 2023 presidential election.
Former President Obasanjo had in his statement on Sunday, declared: “None of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline, and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job, particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge.
“Others like all of us have what they can collectively contribute to the new dispensation to liberation, restoration, and salvaging of Nigeria.”
