There were indications that the Black Marine, the militant wing of the separatist Biafra Nations League (BnL) operating in the Bakassi Peninsula and the Gulf of Guinea, on Wednesday night, went on rampage to protest the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on upland Bakassi in Cross River State by the Nigerian government.
The group had demanded that the curfew be lifted and let free movement be allowed.
National Daily Newspaper gathered that the pioneer founder of the Biafra Nations League (BnL), Princewill Chimezie Richards, had on live broadcast via Sunrise Daily TV YouTube, warned that his “supporters might run out of patience if the curfew continues”.
The Biafra Nations League was said to have admonished that failure to end the curfew would cause more problem in the region.
National Daily Newspaper further gathered that The Black Marine took up the enforcement responsibility to ensure that the BnL demand on the military to end the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on upland Bakassi in Cross River State, is complied with.
Residents of the zone were gathered to have narrated that the Black Marine militants stormed the area at about 3.00am and were shooting sporadically moving towards the Ikang Jetty.
The residents were cited to have said: “there were gunshots last night around the Ikang waterways by suspected militants of the Black Marine, a group loyal to Biafran movement.”
The BnL has been promoting the Biafra agitation in the Bakassi Peninsula, reinforcing the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and others on the cities of the southeast Nigeria.
