Chelsea have suffered yet another injury blow ahead weekend clash at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were dealt with Mykhailo Mudryk’s fresh injury crisis. The midfielder will miss Friday’s Premier League game against Luton Town.

The 22-year-old joins Chelsea’s growing injury list. The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Wesley Fofana are already out with injury. Carney Chukwuemeka and Benoit Badiashile are also on treatment tables. Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah and Marcus Bettinelli have also been ruled through injury.

Chelsea confirmed the news about Mudryk on their official website. The club had announced that he is now ‘starting rehabilitation after assessments on an injury sustained in training this week’.

Mauricio Pochettino was forced to defend the Ukraine international recently. The midfielder endured another difficult display in a Chelsea shirt in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham. Pochettino had insisted that the £88.5m signing will eventually come good.

Asked what is going wrong for Mudryk, and what he made of his performance, Pochettino replied: ‘Well I think he needs to be more in the spirit to score.

‘He played 45 minutes, he needs to have continuity. But first of all he needs to build his continuity and trust during the trainings during the week.

‘He’s a young player that needs to be trusted, we need to trust in him to create this relationship with us and with the team.

‘He has enormous quality and talent, I think it’s only [a matter of] time for him to settle better in the team and for sure he will find the way to perform in the way that we expect.’

Pochettino arrived as Chelsea head coach this summer, looking to turn the club’s fortunes around after their abysmal 12th-placed Premier League finish last term.

The former Tottenham boss is still seeking his first win at Chelsea following a 1-1 home draw against Liverpool and the 3-1 loss at West Ham.
