Patient absconds from Ogun hospital over unpaid medical bills
A patient at the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba, Ogun State, has absconded after being unable to pay her medical bills.
Saba Elizabeth, who was admitted to the gynecology ward on November 11, 2023, was supposed to be discharged on November 16, 2023.
However, she remained in the hospital due to her inability to settle her bill.
On Saturday, Elizabeth reportedly told hospital staff that she was going to a nearby store to buy food.
However, she never returned to the hospital.
When attempts to locate her failed, the hospital’s Chief Security Officer, Akpoji Joshua, reported the incident to the Kemta Police Division.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident and said that the police are investigating to determine Elizabeth’s whereabouts.
Hospital Public Relations Officer Segun Orisajo expressed disappointment with Elizabeth’s actions, stating that the hospital management had gone to great lengths to provide her with care and hoped to be repaid.
