Lagos residents warned against dubious land sale at Weighbridge, Owode, Ikorodu Road
Residents of Lagos State and the general public have been urged to exercise caution over the purported sale of residential plots of land at Weighbridge, Owode, along Ikorodu Road, which are currently subjects of litigation.
According to concerned traders in the area, the land in question is part of an ongoing dispute at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja Judicial Division, in Suit No: ID/1757/1994; B.I. Olowu (Judgment Creditor/Respondent) vs. Somolu Local Government & Kosofe Local Government (Judgment Debtors/Respondents).
The case seeks to determine the authentic ownership of the land, which the claimant asserted has been under its possession with existing shops for several years.
The traders cited an online advertisement that reads:

“For Sale: Residential plots at Weighbridge, Owode, directly approved by Lagos State Govt for Residential Estate. Price: ₦100M (Negotiable). Let’s Deal.”

However, they cautioned that the court, presided over by Hon. Justice M.A. Savage, had on June 2, 2025, ordered all parties to maintain the status quo after hearing submissions from Femi Falana, SAN, counsel to the claimant. Despite this order, alleged attempts to sell the land to unsuspecting buyers have continued.
“This is to notify the public not to engage in any financial transaction concerning these plots or any structures placed on them by the defendants or their associates,” the traders warned.
They further noted that a copy of the court notice has been lodged at the Lagos State Lands Registry, ensuring that any due diligence query will reveal the ongoing litigation.
Members of the public are therefore strongly advised to avoid any purchase or commitment on the said property to prevent falling victim to a fraudulent transaction.
