Kogi Bye-election: Police warn hoodlums to steer clear of polling booths
The Kogi State Police Command has warned hoodlums to steer clear polling booths and collation centres during the bye-election in Okura II State constituency on Saturday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, in a statement on Friday in Lokoja, warned members of the public against taking the law into their hands.
“Whoever is caught breaching the law regulating the conduct of the bye-election will be dealt with decisively.
“Police will not hesitate to deal with anyone who may want to disrupt the existing peace the state is enjoying.
“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Miller Dantawaye, reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment and preparedness, in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the bye-election.
“Dantawaye urged residents in the communities where the bye-election will take place to fully cooperate with law enforcement officers to guard against criminal elements who may want to disrupt the election process,” The PPRO declared. (NAN)
