Man United back Amorim despite shock Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby
Manchester United have decided not to part ways with manager Ruben Amorim despite the club’s humiliating Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.
United, who were expected to cruise past their fourth-tier opponents, found themselves trailing 2-0 at halftime. Late goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire forced a penalty shootout, but the Red Devils ultimately crashed out, marking the first time in the club’s history that they have been eliminated from a competition by a team from the fourth division.

The defeat compounds a poor start to the season for Amorim, as United are still winless after three fixtures under his reign. The disappointing run has fueled speculation about his future at Old Trafford.
However, according to BBC Sport, the 40-year-old Portuguese tactician retains the backing of United’s hierarchy. The club’s leadership is reportedly keen on avoiding rash, short-term decisions and remains committed to giving Amorim more time to steady the team’s form.
United fans, however, have expressed growing frustration, with many questioning whether Amorim can turn things around as the club looks to recover from a shaky start to the campaign.
