The Angola Football Federation (FAF) is reportedly making a strong move to lure Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, away from Nigeria following his impressive performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Chelle, a Malian tactician, has attracted widespread attention across the continent after leading Nigeria to an eye-catching campaign at AFCON 2025, where the Super Eagles were widely praised for their fluid attacking football and tactical discipline.

Nigeria’s performances under Chelle reignited optimism among fans and analysts, positioning the team as one of the most entertaining sides of the tournament.

According to SCORENigeria, the Angolan FA is prepared to significantly improve Chelle’s financial package in a bid to secure his services.

The federation is reportedly offering to double his current salary, proposing a monthly pay of $100,000 compared to the $50,000 he currently earns under his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Chelle is understood to have one year remaining on his existing deal with the NFF, making any potential move subject to negotiations and possible compensation. However, sources suggest Angola’s offer is aimed at testing Nigeria’s resolve to retain the highly rated coach amid growing continental interest.

Angola’s national team, the Palancas Negras, endured a disappointing outing at AFCON 2025, crashing out in the group stage after failing to secure the results needed to advance.

The early exit has reportedly prompted the Angolan FA to consider a technical overhaul, with Chelle identified as a key target to lead a rebuilding process.

Neither the NFF nor the Angolan Football Federation has issued an official statement on the reported offer, while Chelle himself has remained silent on his future.

Nonetheless, the development adds fresh uncertainty to Nigeria’s coaching setup as the Super Eagles prepare for upcoming international engagements.
