Young innovators shine at Toyota Motor Show 2026 as technology meets opportunity
Toyota Nigeria Limited placed youth innovation, technology and automotive excellence at the centre of its 2026 Toyota Motor Show, dedicating a full day of activities to nurturing the next generation of industry leaders through technical training, academic competitions and engaging panel discussions.
The four-day exhibition, held recently at The Podium in Lekki, Lagos, brought together students, young professionals, automotive enthusiasts and industry stakeholders in a celebration of innovation, mobility and talent development.
The youth-focused programme commenced with an intensive technical workshop facilitated by Toyota Nigeria’s Master Technician and Key Instructor, Saheed Shorinola, who provided participants with practical insights into modern automotive technology and vehicle maintenance.
After a closely contested battle of ideas, Team A, comprising Robinson Goodness, Esabu Blessing and Igbayisemore Tony, emerged champions and received the grand prize of N600,000.
Team B, made up of Akinware Breakthrough, Yusuf Rahimat and Dawn Ijaware, secured the runners-up position and was awarded N300,000 for its impressive performance.
The excitement continued with an automotive quiz competition that tested participants’ knowledge of vehicle mechanics, automotive engineering and Toyota’s history.
Following several elimination rounds, Feyisetan Tolase Emmanuel emerged as the overall winner, taking home N250,000. Ayorinde Bolarinwa finished in second place and received N150,000, while Shobowale Oladimeji claimed third position with a prize of N100,000.
Other finalists, including Mario Chukwuma, Aduloju Oluwatomiwa and Abdulsemiu Ayodeji, who placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, were rewarded with N50,000 each in recognition of their performances.

Speaking at the event, Henshaw commended the participants for demonstrating exceptional confidence, creativity and analytical thinking. “The future remains bright when young people are encouraged to embrace knowledge and innovation,” she said.
Other members of the panel included television personality and influencer Somadina Anyama, Toyota Nigeria’s Head of Service, Sylvester Enwere, and the company’s Head of Dealer Development and Special Projects, Henry Ojuoko.
Ojuoko said Toyota’s commitment extends beyond vehicle sales to empowering young Nigerians through education and innovation.
“Toyota’s mission goes beyond selling vehicles. It is about inspiring curiosity and encouraging young Nigerians to explore massive opportunities in technology, mobility and innovation,” he stated.
Beyond the educational activities, the motor show offered visitors opportunities to experience some of Toyota’s flagship models through exclusive test-drive sessions. Participants drove vehicles including the Camry, RAV4, Land Cruiser, Corolla and Hilux, while also benefiting from complimentary vehicle diagnostic services.
The event also featured entertainment and audience engagement activities. Popular comedian and content creator Mama Deola headlined the third day, entertaining visitors while showcasing vehicle features in an interactive manner.
The exhibition concluded with a music and entertainment festival hosted by celebrity On-Air Personality Dotun. One of the highlights of the finale was the highly anticipated “DJ Bump Off” competition, which featured four DJs competing for top honours.
Female disc jockey DJ Medusa emerged victorious after impressing judges and spectators with her performance, earning the competition’s top prize and closing the event on a high note.
