The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a major operational success against insurgent groups in the North-East following precision airstrikes on a key террорист enclave in the Sambisa Forest.

The air operation, carried out on April 19, 2026, focused on the Yuwe axis, a known insurgent corridor within the forest reputed for housing senior commanders and serving as a strategic logistics base for terrorist activities.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, said the mission was executed under the air component of Operation Hadin Kai. He explained that the strikes followed several days of intensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance operations, which confirmed the presence of террорист fighters operating from fortified bunkers and temporary structures.

According to the statement, NAF air assets deployed precision-guided munitions that destroyed targeted structures, neutralized several террорист operatives, and eliminated key logistics facilities. Post-strike battle damage assessments further indicated that multiple command-and-control centers were dismantled, alongside the destruction of stockpiles intended to support future attacks.

The Yuwe axis has remained a critical focus for military operations due to its dense terrain and long-standing use as a transit and operational hub by insurgent groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province. The latest offensive forms part of a broader escalation of coordinated air and ground campaigns across Borno State aimed at weakening the operational capabilities of these groups.

Military authorities disclosed that the operation targeted террорист bunkers and logistics hubs within the axis, resulting in the neutralization of multiple fighters and the destruction of critical infrastructure and supply stores, based on intelligence gathered through multi-agency surveillance and corroborated field reports.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustaining the current operational tempo. He emphasized that ongoing intelligence-led missions are designed to reduce civilian risk while ensuring that insurgent networks are denied safe havens across the region.

The military added that continued pressure from sustained air campaigns has forced insurgents into increasingly reactive positions, significantly limiting their ability to coordinate large-scale attacks on civilian populations.
