African Athletics 2024: Akintola to race in men’s 200m final
Nigeria’s Alaba Akintola will race in the 200m men’s final of the 2024 African Championships in Douala after he finished in 3rd place in the semifinals.
The final pitting Akintola against other African heavyweights on the tracks will take place Wednesday at 5.10 pm Nigerian time.
Akintola was the only Nigerian athlete, male or female, who competed in the 200m semifinal contests.

The speedster initially ran in Heat 6 of the event on Day 5 of the championships and won comfortably with a time of 20.94 seconds, despite a slight headwind of -0.1 m/s, finishing ahead of Cameroonian champion, Claude Itoungue.
Akintola then ran in the semis and finished with a time of 20.79s to qualify for the final.
