Amotekun interrogates 63 northern youths conveying unregistered motorcycles in trailer to Lagos
Operatives of the Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, on Wednesday caught 63 northern youths at Iju, Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, traveling in a trailer conveying unregistered motorcycles and livestock. The youths were being interrogated to account for the unregistered motorcycles being conveyed from the north, including other motorcycles detected by the Amotekun that are registered with fictitious names.
Amotekun operatives disclosed that the 63 youth claimed they were coming from Gombe State and traveling to Lagos.
The Commander of Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that the operatives in routine patrol sighted the trailer with registration Number Kano AB234BDJ driven by Salisu Ahmed loaded with the youths and intercepted to clarify the identity of the travelers. The youths were later taken to the Amotekun Headquarters in Akure, Ondo State for further interrogation and clarification before they will proceed with their journey.
Adeleye said that Operative, searching the trailer, discovered that the trailer was carrying 63 persons, and about 240 rams, 10 motorcycles registered with Yoruba names and 15 unregistered motorcycles.
The Amotekun Commander maintained that the travelers will provide evidence of ownership of the unregistered motorcycles before they would be released to continue their journey. He added that the travelers are also being profile to ascertain their mission and real origin.
