Anger as Lagos police stray bullet kills another lady
Since a stray bullet killed another lady in Lagos on Saturday, the Lagos State Police Command has again returned into the eye of another storm.
The incident happened when detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, went to arrest a robbery suspect in Ijesha.
Monsurat Ojuade, 18, was hit and killed wihi minutes later. Her mother reportedly passed out on hearing the news.
A statement Sunday night by Adekunle Ajisebutu, Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that the operative who pulled the trigger has been identified and is being detained.
The spokesman, however, failed to mention the name and rank of the killer cop.
Ajisebutu only said Odumosu directed that the officer be tried and charged to court after dismissal.
“This, it is believed, will serve as a deterrent to others who do not act professionally in the course of their duties,” Ajisebutu added.
A 24-year-old saleshirl was killed in like manner in April during an Oodua rally at Ojota, Lagos.
No cop has been held responsible for that.
