The Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, has said that the February 26th Ogoja/Yala federal constituency and Akpabuyo State Assembly by-elections are a must win for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Jedy-Agba stated this on Monday when a delegation of the State Executive Council led by the state Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

The Minister who charged the leadership of the party to continue to work to unite and keep the party together noted that for the APC to retain the state beyond 2023, the executive must run an all-exclusive government.

He noted that the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP was a common enemy therefore, party leaders at all levels should eschew bitterness and close ranks to ensure victory in the by-elections as they continue to prepare for 2023.

While congratulating the state executives and candidates of APC in the two elections, he revealed that the lighting challenges in some parts of the state will be addressed soon as he has initiated different approaches to improving power supply in the state.

According to him, “I want to congratulate you once again for emerging as State executives to lead our great party at this time. Leadership comes from God and it has pleased him to anoint you to lead the party at this period, so we must support you because in doing that, we’re working for God.

On his efforts in improving electricity in the state, he said that “I’m not here for myself. I’m here for our people. Just last week, I sent a team from the Ministry to the state for survey on how we can connect the entire Cross River North up to Boki and some parts of Ikom to the Kashimbila hydro power plant. I’ve received the report and we’re working on the next line of action.

The Ogoja substation is almost complete and we’ve secured the approval of Niger Delta Power Holding Company that’s in charge of the Odukpani power plant to give reasonable megawatts that’ll power the South and some part of Central. I’m positive that by God’s grace, light will improve remarkably very soon. We’re also working to address the Akpabuyo issue which is very peculiar “.

Earlier, the State Chairman, in his remarks, thanked the Minister for his support and the leadership he showed in keeping the party together before the mass defection of the Governor and his supporters from the APC.

Eba assured the Minister that under his leadership, all voices in the APC will count as he’ll continue to run an all-inclusive open-door policy.

In the team with the Chairman were, Deputy State Chairman, Eka Williams, State Secretary, Barr. Bassey Mensah, state Organizing Secretary, Engr. Thomas Aruku, State Publicity Secretary, Erasmus Ekpang amongst others.
