Arsenal, Man City progress to Carabao cup semi-final
By Boluwatife Ezekiel Olaleye
Arsenal and Manchester City on Tuesday booked their places in the semi-finals of this year’s Carabao Cup.
The Gunners defeated West Ham 1-0 at the Emirates, thanks to Danny Welbeck’s scrambled effort in the first half.
Right-back Mathieu Debuchy headed the ball back into the area and Welbeck needed two touches to put it beyond Joe Hart.
The second half was played out at even pace, as the two teams hardly threatened to score more.
Manchester City also progressed into the final four, after seeing of Leicester City 4-3 on penalties. Jamie Vardy’s late penalty had cancelled out Bernado Silva’s opener, taking the game into extra time and spot kicks.
