Bandits invade Speaker’s house, burn properties, others, after kidnapping parents
As bandits take the hits from the federal troops conducting clearance in some northwestern states, locals, including top politicians, are feeling the impact, too.
The Chairman of the Committee on Security and Prosecution of Bandits in Zamfara State, Abdullahi Shinkafi, has confirmed the invasion of Zurmi LGA, Zanfara, by bandits dispersed from the forest.
The marauding criminals torched houses in the area, including that of the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya.
His parents were kidnapped and released days ago.
According to Shinkafi, this second incident was coming as a result of the ongoing onslaught by the military in Zurmi LGA.
He has visited the area, and said the government also wanted to provide support for victims and deploy more security operatives to protect the people
The chairman also added that two suppliers of foodstuff, petrol and other commodities to the bandits were arrested.
The suspects used boats to convey the products from Sokoto through Issa Local Council to the bandits in Shinkafi LGA of the state.
