Bernard, 35, pays bride price of 70-year-old white woman to her children

Kenyan Bernard Musyok, 35, has legally married a white woman twice his age, and has paid her bride price in Kenya.

The bride, Deborah, is 70 years old, and her price was Ksh 100.

In an interview, Musyoki said they met on Facebook in 2017. He wanted to travel for a meet-up in 2018 but the US embassy denied him a visa.

“I sent her a friend request, after a week, I asked her to marry me and she accepted. We even exchanged vows inbox,” he said.

They kept communicating, and on December 29, 2020, the woman decided to travel to Kenya to meet him.

Since Deborah’s parents passed on years ago, Musyok had to negotiate for dowry payment with her and her children—who are all older than he is

“They said they wanted only Ksh100 and told me to take it to church as an offering and she said that’s my dowry,” he said.

He said when their mother told them she had found love again, they accepted him and supported their relationship.
