Biafra League encroaches Cameroon border, hoists Biafra flag at Bakassi Peninsula entrance

The Biafra Nations League (BNL) is encroaching deeper into the Cameroonian border territory to stabilize its struggle for Biafra independence. BNL at the weekend admitted the group hoisted the Biafra flag at the “Welcome to Bakassi” territory, an entrance route from Cameroon into Nigeria through Cross River State. The territory is a border zone with Akpabuyo, the route to the Peninsula in the territory of Cameroon.

Biafra Nations League Operational Commander in Bakassi, Ita Bassey, in a statement, debunked reports that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) hoisted the Biafra flag on the “Welcome to Bakassi” entrance route from Cameroon to Nigeria.

Ita Bassey insisted that BNL had occupied Bakassi as its Operational Headquarters in the struggle for Biafra independence. Armed Biafra Nations League militia has last week barricaded the entrance to Bakassi, obstructing traffic, and after confronting the security operatives at an adjacent, took control of the territory to hoist the Biafra flag in the outskirt of Bakassi linking Nigeria and Cameroon. The BNL after taking control of the arena to hoist the BIAFRA REPUBLIC flag at WELCOME TO BAKASSI boundary territory in Bakassi Peninsula: “We await actions from our Marine members at areas controlled by Cameroon as they shall embark on a Show of Force from Tuesday.”

Some individuals had gathered in a video to denounce Biafra in the community, arguing that Cross River State is not Biafra territory.  This precipitated protest and resistance in the border community.

BNL leader, Princewill Chimezie Richards, and other leaders of the group – Ebuta Akor Takon, Bakassi, Linus Essien, etc., have been engaged in intense activities within the Bakassi Peninsula, extending to the Gulf of Guinea pursuing their separatist agenda. Most of the time, they mobilise the BNL militia to confront the Cameroonian Army in warfare.

The BNL militia has resisted the occupation or incursion into the Nigerian border territory in Cross River State, while pushing their struggle into the Cameroonian border communities. They have stoutly protected border communities in Nigerian territory around Cross River State, Bakassi Peninsula and Akwa Ibom State.
