BREAKING: Lionel Messi honoured by BBC after World Cup victory
Lionel Messi has been named BBC Sports Personality’s World Sport Star of the year by BBC after Argentina’s World Cup 2022 triumph against France National Daily can confirm.
The 35-year-old Argentina captain led and inspired his country to win their third World Cup after 36 years on Sunday night in Qatar.
Messi scored twice in the final match of the international tournament, as well as shooting a penalty in the shootout, with Argentina going on to beat France 4-2 on penalties after a nail-biting 3-3 draw.
