President Muhammadu Buhari is beginning to take tough measures on the security crisis in the country. The President is currently meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, and other heads of security agencies at the State House, Abuja.

The service chiefs at the Tuesday meeting are expected to brief the President on the efforts made so far to contain the prevailing security challenges in the country, and the next steps.

The Special Adviser to the President on media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday afternoon posted on his Facebook page: “President Buhari receives Security Briefing in State House on 7th Sep 2021.”

It was indicated that the emergency meeting was convened by the President following an escalation and surge of banditry, kidnapping, and killings in the country.

It was revealed that other state actors attending the security meeting at the State House include the Ministers of Defence, Bashir Magashi; Justice, Abubakar Malami; Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi; Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

The Tuesday security meeting in Abuja heralds the president’s visit to Imo State on Thursday, a notable troubled state in southeast Nigeria.
