Buhari to receive Qatari emir at Aso Rock on Tuesday, April 23
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Althani, will be received at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, April 23.
The monarch’s visit comes three years after Buhari’s February 2016 visit to Doha, the Qatari capital, to attend an OPEC meeting, Daily Trust reports.
Buhari had also received the former Qatari emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Althani, at the Presidential Villa in March 2018.
During his 2016 visit to the oil-producing state, Buhari had emphasized the need for OPEC and non-OPEC member countries to cooperate and find a common ground to stabilise the price of crude oil.

Buhari, at a bilateral meeting with the emir, also described the market situation at the time, which saw oil prices plummeting by 70 percent, as “totally unacceptable”.
The president invited Qatari investors to take advantage of Nigeria’s abundant opportunities and invest in the key areas of energy, agriculture, real estate development, banking and finance.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election for a new presidential term which will last for another years.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, also congratulated President Buhari on his re-election, wishing the Nigerian president success and the Nigerian people, further development and progress.
