Cameroun-Nigeria Boundary: FG sensitises Nigerian communities over ICJ judgment implementation

The Chief of Mambila in Taraba State Dr. Shehu Audu Baju II has commended President Muhammadu Buhari in ensuring Nigeria’s Territorial integrity is intact, safe and peaceful towards the implementation of the judgment of the international court of justice passed in 2002 on the Cameroun and Nigeria Boundary dispute.
The chief gave the commendation while receiving the Director General of the National Boundary Commission Dr. Mohammed Ahmad Bose who led a team of officials on a sensitization four to the communities affected by the judgment in the Mambila Plateau of Taraba State preparatory to Boundary pillar emplacement exercise to be embarked upon soon.
The paramount leader said the people should not entertain only fear or apprehension over the pillar emplacement exercise to be carried out by the tripartite team comprising Nigeria, Cameroun and United Nation officials noting that president Muhammadu Buhari is acknowledged worldwide as a statement that is fail honest and a believer in the sanctity of Nigeria.
Chief Audu Shehu Baju II then urged the people to give their maximum cooperation to the pillar emplacement Team and to ensure a peaceful exercise.
Earlier the Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. Mahammed Bose Ahmed has told the paramount leader that the pillar emplacement exercise was to know and appreciate the boundary as a base to develop on enduring trans-border cooperation.
Dr. Ahmed assured the people that not an inch of Nigeria’s territory would be ceded to Cameroun in the course of the exercise and appealed to the affected communities to give the team their maximum cooperation.
The Director-General expressed the Federal Government appreciation to communities located along Nigerian international boundaries areas, for living peacefully with border communities of neighboring countries.
Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly. Hon. Abel Peter Diah while receiving the team said the people of Taraba State count on the integrity of President Muhammed Buahri and the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who is the statutory Chairman of the National Boundary Commission, to ensure the safety of Nigeria territory and the people.
The speaker explained that the people of Taraba in their Patriotic zeal are willing and ready for the exercise to further confirm Nigeria’s integrity and respect to international conventions.
The team which included the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Surv. Ebisintel Biatoru Awudu, the Director of International Boundaries. Surv. Adamu Chindo and the Taraba State Boundary Commissioner also interacted with opinion leaders and traditional rulers of the Mambila Plateau in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The sensitization team on arrival in the state held an interactive session with heads of security organs and officials of the Taraba State Government.
The State Governor, Arch. Ishaku Darious was represented by the secretary to the state government Mr. Anthony Jeliason.
